CISP’s theory is that most of the problems children face within a community have their root cause from the same community and most of the time can be tackled by the same community. By the community members participating in these social norms intervention/ dialogues, they become aware that the harmful practices and their general negative perception towards children deny them their rights and the opportunities to achieve their potential. Once the community has this knowledge, they realise the unfairness of society towards boys and girls and start to question the harmful practices that endanger their lives. Based on common values, community participants are able to challenge their own beliefs, practices, and come up with solutions to addressing children concerns.
